welcome to samechick.com,
the home of freelance video editor shelly toscano.

I have been editing since 1996. I started my professional career with a beta version of AVID on an old and cracked mac tower in a back room at FOX 5 in NYC.

Since those days I have worked on a lot of broadcast shows, quite a few episodes of web based shows, a couple of music videos, big screen tour content, two very independent documentaries and, of course, my fair share of corporate/trade show videos.

After spending ten years editing on the east coast, my husband and I packed up and headed west for a California adventure.

If you have a project that is in need of an experienced editor please do feel free to contact me.

FAMOUS: THE BUZZY LINHART STORY

Although I started production on this documentary in 1999, it really all began when I had a brief encounter with Buzzy in 1989 at a “rally” in Washington Square Park. After seeing some performances I was hooked! Buzzy left the east coast for 10 years and when I had the chance to see him again, I knew that his was a story that needed to be told.

Please visit www.BuzzyLinhart.com for more info on Buzzy.

TRISHA PAYTAS: HOT FOR TEACHER

This video, starring YouTube and Instagram celebrity, Ms. Trisha Paytas, is a fun and slightly naughty homage to Van Halen’s original.

Trisha and her director, Kale Flowers, were great to work with! They are two of the nicest people I have ever met!

UNFORGOTTEN: 25 YEARS AFTER WILLOWBROOK

This was my first documentary editing gig and I share editing credits with two other fine editors on this one [Matt Mallinson and Constantine Limperis].

Very hard to not get wrapped up in the stories while I was cutting this. Heartbreaking.

VAN HALEN – TATTOO

The first single off of their long anticipated “A Different Kind of Truth.” Shot over 3 days at the Roxy on the Sunset Strip. Rumor is they still find confetti in the camera gear cases. Edited by me, but very much post-produced by DLR and AVH.

JANET JACKSON – ALL FOR YOU EPK

I edited this one when I was doing a bit of freelance work for Dogmatic in NYC. I loved it there! The owners always brought their dogs in and who doesn’t love to take a break once and a while to spend some time with a waggy tailed four legger?

THE BEATLES – THE YELLOW SUBMARINE SAILS AGAIN PART 1

Edited by me when I was freelancing in NYC mostly for VH1 and MTV. Produced by the lovely and talented Angela Quilala.

THE BEATLES – THE YELLOW SUBMARINE SAILS AGAIN PART 2

VAN HALEN – SHE’S THE WOMAN

Edited in the back “lounge” area of a tour bus. I had hoped we could turn it into a contest of sorts, but that didn’t happen. Instead AVH and DLR decided to add some photos in the middle of it, and call it a day.

VAN HALEN – THE DOWNTOWN SESSIONS

Shot and recorded in one of the studios at Henson on La Brea. These videos were offered up on a DVD as part of the Deluxe edition of A Different Kind of Truth.

20/20 TORI AMOS – PART 1

I edited this because ABC’s editors were on strike. At the time the producers were concerned that I may be harrassed, so they thought it best to not credit me. Bummer, but I had no say in it.

20/20 TORI AMOS – PART 2

:not notable: THE GENMAY DOCUMENTARY

This documentary is centered around some of the people who make up the online community at Genmay.com.

It was filmed in July of 2007 and had it's premier the following year on an eco-friendly party bus in Las Vegas. Good times. Shortly thereafter it was uploaded to vimeo for everyone to see.

Most recently (January 2009) :not notable: was re-uploaded with a slight audio change. I'm sorry AussieHax, I guess the answer was "No" after all. :|

Peace.
